A : This accommodation is built upon the deep, affectionate roots of Waon Village. As a host who was born, raised, and spent years working in this local coastal area—deeply understanding the tides and the mudflats—I wanted to create a place that goes beyond a standard commercial lodging. I envisioned a home away from home where travelers can step out of their fast-paced daily routines and experience a slower, organic rhythm of life.
Q : What are the most cherished and special elements in this accommodation?
A : We focus on features that allow people to slow down and physically connect with the surroundings. We have a dedicated mudflat experience zone where guests can genuinely step into the raw earth, catch cockles, and learn the local way of preparing them. We also prepared outdoor amenities like a hammock and specialized foot-bath (hip-bath) facilities. Watching the magnificent sunset of Waon while fully relaxing your body in these spaces is an experience that brings deep, natural healing to our guests.

A : The core value of Ecovichi is "unvarnished human warmth (jeong) and emotional connection." I don't want this to be a rigid, artificial space where people merely check in, sleep, and leave. I want it to be a gathering ground where guests feel free to boil ramen together at dusk, share stories over coffee, and interact genuinely with the host and one another. I believe the true charm of Waon lies in its authentic, untouched nature and generous heart, and I want to share that pure energy completely with everyone who visits.

A : It is highly recommended for families traveling with young children who want to experience experiential learning in nature, as well as multi-generational groups looking for a peaceful, nostalgic retreat. Anyone who knows how to slow down, actively embrace a destination, and appreciate the simple poetry of a quiet coastal alleyway and a beautiful sunset will find absolute satisfaction here.
Q : Are there any special places around the accommodation or unique to this area?
A: The true hidden gem is right in front of our stay—the vintage, quiet village alleyways that lead to the shoreline. Walking along these paths when the sun begins to set provides an incredibly serene and magical experience. The way the sunset glows over the mudflats matches beautifully with the old alleyway scenery, maximizing the peaceful and cozy atmosphere of our village.
Q : Were there any challenges you faced while preparing or running this accommodation?
A : Connecting the raw, natural environment of the mudflats and our past experience with cockle sorting into a comfortable commercial lodging was a unique trial. We had to ensure that the outdoor experiential spaces and amenities were perfectly maintained and safe for guests of all ages, while keeping the traditional hospitality warm and personal. It takes a lot of daily effort, but when guests tell us they felt deeply healed and restored, all that exhaustion disappears.

A : It is run directly by myself with a deep attachment to my hometown, Waon. My family and the local village neighbors also act as a reliable backbone, sharing their warm community bond (jeong) and helping out with everything needed to make our guests feel like part of the village during their stay.
