Q : What is the story behind the beginning of this space?
A: This space is operated by host Kim Jeong-sun. I have lived in this neighborhood for a long time, and I always thought this quiet alley near the Culture Street was incredibly charming. When this house became available, I wanted to create a place that felt like a warm, welcoming home for travelers visiting Suncheon. Rather than a stiff, commercial hotel, I poured my effort into making a space where families and close friends can comfortably gather, cook together, and share deep conversations.
Q : Where was the spot you first envisioned, and where is the place your heart lingers the most even now?
A: I care the most about the kitchen and the communal living room area. I designed it with an open structure so that even while preparing a meal or making coffee, you can constantly look at and talk with the people in the living room. I also paid great attention to the lighting; instead of harsh, bright lights, I placed warm, indirect lamps throughout the house to ensure that our guests can completely relax their eyes and minds after a long day of traveling.
Q : I'm curious about the story embedded in this place and the values you want to convey.
A: The value I want to deliver is "familiar and safe comfort." I handpicked the bedding to ensure it is exceptionally soft and clean, and I meticulously inspect the property every single day. I want guests to open the door, step inside, and instantly feel the kind of relief and relaxation they would feel upon returning to their own home after a tiring day.
Q : "I wish these kinds of people would visit." Do you have any specific guests you would highly recommend this place to?
A: I highly recommend Residence Samu to family travelers with children or parents, as well as groups of friends traveling together. Since the entire house is rented out to only one group per day, you can use the space completely freely without worrying about disturbing anyone else. It is an ideal layout for creating cozy, unforgettable group memories.
Q : Are there any special places around the accommodation or unique to this area?
A: Since we are located right in the heart of the Okcheon area, the local accessibility is wonderful. You can step outside and immediately explore the charming independent cafes, artisan craft workshops, and small galleries along the Culture Street. Taking a light stroll along the Okcheon Stream early in the morning or at dusk is also a beautifully serene experience that I always recommend to our guests.
Q : Were there any challenges you faced while preparing or running this accommodation?
A : Because it is a house embedded in an older, historic alleyway, updating the plumbing and insulation to modern, flawless standards while maintaining the vintage outer neighborhood charm required a lot of hard work and structural care. It was a challenging process, but when guests tell me that the house is incredibly warm, clean, and convenient to stay in, all that exhaustion turns into deep pride.

A : It is operated directly by myself with a mother's heart. My family also acts as my reliable backbone, helping with heavy maintenance or checking on details whenever needed. We manage this space with a shared commitment to keeping it the cleanest and most comforting stay in Suncheon.
